              Ecosystem Management

              Nature management is intended to ensure the continued existence of the Nature Park's flora, fauna, and characteristic landscape, public use and enjoyment of the area. Management activities include: forest fire prevention, afforestation, natural vegetation management, grazing and wildlife management (preservation, restoration, and monitoring). Additional activities are undertaken to provide services to the visitors of the Nature Park, such as marking and maintaining hiking trails, signage, site development and ongoing maintenance.

              Wastewater Purification

              A wastewater purification facility was installed at Ramat Hanadiv in 1998. This is a Bio-Disc type facility used for the purification of the wastewater generated by the office and public lavatories at the Gardens.

              In its current configuration, the facility may serve a small community settlement or neighbourhood. It is a modular facility that may be expanded as needed.

              The facility comprises six components:
              1. An underground tank – collects all lavatory bi-products.
              2. Sedimentation tanks – for initial breakdown. This is where heavy solids and fats are separated from the remainder of the waste materials.
              3. Purification tank – to complete  the biological process using bacterial micro organisms that develop on a system of discs and that facilitate the rapid and high quality breakdown of sewage. The rotating discs infuse oxygen to enable the breakdown of organic material by bacteria.
              4. Clarification tank – this is where intensive clarification is performed by a system of lamella separators. Surplus sludge sinks to the bottom of the tank and is transferred to a sludge collection tank through an automatic pump.
              5. Tablet device – good water passes through this device and is enriched with chlorine.
              6. Pooling tanks – water is transferred from these tanks to flowerbeds through drip irrigation. The droppers are coloured purple, to differentiate them from regular droppers used to transfer drinking water!

              At the end of the process, clear and odourless flowing water is produced. This water may be reused for different needs, including agricultural applications that require limitless irrigation approval.
